Job Description
Supervise and manage fire fighters in the fighting of municipal fires, protecting life and property, and conduct rescue efforts

Positioning of fire fighters to strategically handle and extinguish fires/facilitate rescue efforts
Provide emergency care when needed and be ready to assist in various emergency rescue efforts
Asses nature of prevailing conditions to a fire and confirm that all meet required code/status
Instruct and drill all firefighters in their neccesary duties
Evaluate the performance of firefighters
Direct and supervise the training of firefighters
Maintain required maps/reports to keep information up to speed
Attend training classes to stay informed on all codes and regulations
Evaluate fire station procedures to insure proper function and direct fire fighters in the maintenace of all stations

Must be able to
Give full attention to other people and understand the points they are trying to make
Look for ways to assist others and adjust actions to fit others needs/wants
Teach others neccesary skills/knowledge
Perform and determine the maintenance required on various pieces of machinery
Identify the pros and cons of situations, create alternative solutions, and choose the best option

Must have knowledge of
Current public safety laws/regulations
Methods and means to educate/inform others in important information
Construction of houses, buildings and other structures including materials, design, and repair
Meeting and performing customer relations standards
Of the working and design of various machines/tools
The English Language
Management techniques and organization methods
Education/Training Programs
Must have a vocational degree, although some positions must have a bachelors degree
On the job experience is required
Enroll in Fire Protection and Safety Technology/ Fire Service Administration Programs
Wages
Range: $62,390 - $87,400 a year
Outlook
The outcome is predicted as less than favorable
